Truck Loader Crane and Slinging Regular Loads
This course is designed for operators with little to no experience or looking to obtain their unit standards. The full in-class experience. No pre-course for trainees, our Driver Trainers will go through both theory and practical training and assessment over two days.

Course Aim
To produce operators who can;
- Identify on-site hazards and apply controls
- Understand and deliver lift plans
- Select lifting equipment and prepare loads for lifting
- Demonstrate knot tying for tag lines
- Understand TLC equipment and attachments
- lift, move and place regular loads
- Secure and prepare a TLC for road transport mode
- Conduct daily and weekly checks on a TLC
Equipment Requirements
- Certified truck loader crane
- Certified lift equipment. Slings/ chain slings/ shackles
- Cones, and/or barriers to secure a safe practical training area
- Two different types of loads
- Training room adequate for the size of the course
- You will need appropriate PPE this includes, hard covered shoes, hard-hat, and leather gloves
Unit Standards and Structure
Two days in-class covering:
- Day one covering unit standard 30072 Prepare for and sling regular loads (the prerequisite to 16617)
- Day two covering unit standard 16617 Use a truck loader crane to lift and place regular loads
- *If you would prefer a blended approach with online learning, followed by in-class training and assessment this course can be reduced to one day. Ask our team about our blended course and pricing
Truck Loader Crane Pre-Requisite
The pre-requisite for unit standard 16617 is 30072 Slinging regular loads.
Course Numbers and Pricing
- $3,200 plus GST ($3,680 including GST) per course
- Truck hire from $450 plus GST ($517.50 including GST) per day where available
- Course numbers one to four
